Zodiac compatibility

Libra and Libra compatibility

Two Libras share everything the tradition counts: air, the cardinal quality and Venus as ruler, in conjunction (0°). Astrologers read this as recognition: each sees their own habits in the other, the good ones and the less good. Both weigh, both like harmony, both may wait for the other to decide. It describes a pattern in a tradition, not a verdict on two people.

The only sign that is an object, and where Saturn is honored

Libra is the one sign of the twelve whose symbol is an object, the scales; all the others are people or animals. The Sun enters the sign at the September equinox, when day and night are about equally long, a moment of balance that fits the symbol.

Venus rules Libra. Saturn is exalted in Libra, which the tradition reads as the place where discipline is honored, while the Sun is in fall and Mars is in detriment: the two planets of force and display are least at home here, Saturn and Venus most. Two Libras therefore share a sign in which measure sits well and drive sits uneasily.

In love

In love, two Libras bring charm, courtesy and a shared wish for harmony. Astrologers describe the pair as considerate: each notices what the other needs, and open quarrels are rare. The traditional shadow side is the same for both. Neither likes to disturb the peace, so a difficulty can be weighed for a long time and left unsaid. Both signs are cardinal, so each starts things, but each also waits for the other to say yes. It helps if one of them names a date.

In friendship

As friends, two Libras are described as easy company: they like talk, beauty and fairness, and they are good at making a third person feel welcome. Air feeds on conversation, so evenings run long. The shared habit is indecision about small things, such as where to eat, and the shared remedy is to take turns choosing.

At work

At work, two Libras make a diplomatic pair. They are good at negotiation, at balancing claims and at keeping a team on speaking terms. The tradition warns that two weighing minds can delay a decision indefinitely, so it helps to agree who has the casting vote.

Strengths

  • Mutual understanding: each knows the other’s habits.
  • Courtesy and fairness on both sides.
  • A shared taste for beauty and harmony.

Points of attention

  • Indecision: two weighing minds can stall.
  • Conflict avoidance: a problem may wait too long.
  • Mirroring: the same blind spot in both.

What the sky says

The signs are not the constellations. The sign Libra begins at the September equinox, and the Sun then stands in front of the stars of Virgo, because precession has carried the equinox against the stars by about one degree every 72 years. The scales as a constellation lie further on, from the end of October. In early Greek astronomy those stars were the claws of the Scorpion; the scales appear as a figure of their own later, in Roman times.

A conjunction (0°) means the same sign. Two planets in Libra stand between 0° and 30° apart, and an exact conjunction needs the same degree, for example 15° Libra and 15° Libra. In whole-sign astrology two people with the Sun in the same sign share everything the sign stands for, whatever the degrees; the tradition that works with degrees also asks how close the two Suns are.

Frequently asked questions

Are two Libras a good match?

Astrology gives no yes or no. The traditional reading is recognition between two who share element, quality and ruler, with the same strengths and the same blind spot. How two people get on depends on their whole charts, and on far more than their Sun signs.

Why is Libra the only sign shown as an object?

The tradition shows every other sign as a person or an animal. The scales were once part of a neighboring figure in Greek star lore and became a figure of their own in Roman times; the Sun enters the sign at the equinox, the moment of balance.

Does the date within the sign matter?

Two people born at the start and at the end of Libra share the sign but differ in their degrees. That is why astrologers look at the whole chart: the Moon, Venus and the other planets can differ much more between two people than the Sun does.
