Sagittarius yearly horoscope
This is a year with a clear shape. Jupiter, the ruler of your sign, begins the year in Leo, in a trine to your sign, and stays there until 26 July, when it moves into Virgo and forms a square. That change is the hinge of the year. The first half tends to feel open and generous, while the second half asks for more effort and more exactness. Saturn stays in Aries all year, also in a trine to your sign, and it gives the whole year a steady floor, even when it turns retrograde on 9 August and direct again on 24 December. Two eclipses, on 6 February and 2 August, mark the beginning and the middle of the year. The opposition between Mars and Uranus on 28 October is the sharpest point of the autumn.
The most important theme is Jupiter itself. In the tradition, Jupiter is the planet of growth, belief and perspective, and as the ruler of your sign, it carries your own temperament. While it moves through Leo, it supports you from a friendly angle. Things you start tend to find room, and confidence comes more easily. After 26 July, Jupiter in Virgo is in a square to your sign. A square is a friction aspect. It does not close doors, but it asks you to deal with details, limits and the practical cost of your plans. The same planet that gave you room now asks you to be exact. Do you tend to trust your enthusiasm to carry a plan, or do you check the small print first?
Saturn and Neptune are both in Aries all year, and both are in a trine to your sign. Saturn brings structure, patience and the habit of finishing what you start. Neptune brings imagination and a softer sense of direction, though it can also blur the outlines of a plan. Neptune turns retrograde on 10 July and direct again on 15 December, and Saturn is retrograde from 9 August to 24 December. For much of the second half of the year, then, both planets are moving backward through the sky. In the tradition, that points inward. It is a time to revise what you have built rather than to add more to it.
Uranus in Gemini stands opposite your sign all year. An opposition shows up through other people and through events that seem to come from outside. Uranus is the planet of sudden change and independence, and across from your sign, it can bring a restlessness in your closest relationships, or a sense that someone else is asking for more freedom than you expected. It turns direct on 8 February and retrograde on 15 September. Pluto in Aquarius forms a sextile to your sign. This is a supportive angle, and Pluto is about slow, deep transformation. It is retrograde from 8 May to 18 October, which suggests that the work with it is quiet and mostly private. The eclipses also touch your sign. The annular solar eclipse in Aquarius on 6 February is in a sextile to your sign, and the total solar eclipse in Leo on 2 August is in a trine. Both are supportive angles, and eclipses in the tradition mark beginnings that develop over the following months. The penumbral lunar eclipse in Virgo on 21 February is in a square to your sign and is the most demanding of the three.
The first quarter has a lot of motion in it. Mars turns retrograde in Virgo on 10 January, and in the tradition, a retrograde Mars asks you to slow down your drive. You may notice that a project you wanted to push forward stalls, or that an argument you thought was settled comes back. The better use of this time is to repair and refine. On 6 February, the annular solar eclipse in Aquarius forms a sextile to your sign. It can open a quiet opportunity around friendships, groups or a plan you share with others. It tends to work through conversation rather than force.
Two days later, on 8 February, Uranus turns direct in Gemini, opposite your sign. After a period when change seemed to hold still, things can start to move again, often through another person. On 9 February, Mercury turns retrograde in Pisces, which asks you to be careful with messages, appointments and agreements. Then on 21 February, the penumbral lunar eclipse in Virgo forms a square to your sign. In the tradition, lunar eclipses bring something to a close, and this one touches the daily routines and details that Virgo governs. You may find that a habit or a small obligation no longer fits. Mercury turns direct in Aquarius on 3 March, and the end of the quarter feels clearer than the beginning.
The second quarter is gentler and more constructive. Mars turns direct in Leo on 1 April, and your energy tends to return in a more settled and willing form. On 3 April, Jupiter in Leo forms a trine with Saturn in Aries. Jupiter is your ruler, and a trine between these two planets joins expansion with discipline. It is a good moment to commit to something that has been waiting, and the commitment has a realistic base. Ten days later, on 13 April, Jupiter turns direct in Leo. A forward-moving Jupiter in a trine to your sign supports confidence, and plans that were put aside can be picked up again.
On 8 May, Pluto turns retrograde in Aquarius, in a sextile to your sign. The effect is subtle. You may find yourself thinking about power, control or what you really want to change in your life, without any outward event to prompt it. Then on 10 June, Mercury turns retrograde in Cancer. As in February, it is wise to double-check what you write, sign and promise. Cancer is about home and family, so this period can bring up old conversations or matters around the household. Treat it as a chance to listen rather than to settle things quickly.
The third quarter is where the year turns. Mercury turns direct in Gemini on 4 July, and because Gemini is the sign opposite yours, this can bring a sense of release in your dealings with others. On 10 July, Neptune turns retrograde in Aries, and the trine to your sign becomes quieter and more inward. Ideas that felt clear may need another look. The key date is 26 July, when Jupiter enters Virgo and forms a square to your sign. Your ruler has left the easy angle and now asks for care. In ordinary days, this can look like a plan that needs a budget, a trip that needs a schedule, or a belief that needs to meet a fact.
On 2 August, the total solar eclipse in Leo forms a trine to your sign. This is a supportive and visible beginning, and Leo is about creative expression, pride and generosity. It can bring a new chapter around something you enjoy doing, or a chance to be seen for what you do well. Then on 9 August, Saturn turns retrograde in Aries, still in a trine to your sign. The structure you rely on turns inward, and it is a moment to review the commitments you have made this year. On 15 September, Uranus turns retrograde in Gemini, opposite your sign. A relationship or arrangement that felt unsettled may become quieter for a while, and you may notice that change now comes more slowly.
The fourth quarter brings several turning points. Mercury turns retrograde in Scorpio on 7 October, which can bring up matters of trust, shared resources and things left unsaid. It is a good period for private reflection and a poor one for rushed decisions. On 18 October, Pluto turns direct in Aquarius, and what you have been thinking about quietly since May tends to become easier to act on. The sextile to your sign is supportive, and small, deliberate steps work better than dramatic ones.
28 October is a full day. Mars in Sagittarius forms an opposition with Uranus in Gemini, and Mercury turns direct in Libra. Mars in your own sign gives you energy and a quick temper, and the opposition with Uranus can bring a sudden disagreement or an impulse to break away from something. In the tradition, an opposition asks for balance rather than victory. Mercury turning direct on the same day helps you speak more clearly afterward. If a tense moment arises, it is wise to wait a day before you answer. Later in the quarter, Neptune turns direct in Aries on 15 December, and a sense of direction that had been hazy tends to return. Saturn turns direct in Aries on 24 December, in a trine to your sign, and the year ends on a steady note, with the structures you reviewed since August ready to move forward again.
As a small thought for the year, choose one commitment you made in the first half and look at it again after 26 July, when Jupiter moves into Virgo. Ask whether it still fits the person you are becoming, and adjust it by one small, practical step.
The positions of the Sun, Moon and planets are calculated with astronomical precision. The interpretation follows the Western astrological tradition: a centuries-old way of looking at the sky, not a scientific prediction.
